Christmas display on Lake Coeur d'Alene nominated for best light show

With the holiday season moving closer, decorations are popping up around Lake Coeur d'Alene leading up to the start of the Coeur d'Alene Resorts "Journey to the North Pole" Cruise.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — The Christmas display on Lake Coeur d'Alene has been nominated for USA Today's Readers' Choice Best Public Holiday Lights Display.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the Holiday Light Show was ranked fourth. If you'd like to vote for Coeur d'Alene, click here.

Christmas decorations were seen from KREM 2's Coeur d'Alene camera Tuesday morning, leading up to the start of holiday cruises by the Coeur d'Alene Resort.

The Coeur d'Alene Resort Holiday Light Show Cruise is an annual tradition for many in the Northwest, with a 40-minute 'Journey to the North Pole' around the lake to see over 1.5 million lights and a stop to hear Santa Claus himself read the names of all the kids he'll visit on Christmas Eve.

Tickets are on sale now for the boat cruises that will take place multiple times each evening from the day after Thanksgiving through New Years Day.

The daily cruises are put on by The Coeur d'Alene Resort, where a special Christmas Tree lighting ceremony will take place the day after Thanksgiving.

The Christmas Tree is up in anticipation of the ceremony, also seen from KREM 2's live camera. The special ceremony after Thanksgiving will also include a firework display over the lake.
