COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - The body of a woman missing since 2004 has been found in a remote wooded area of Kootenai County.

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday the body of Christine Lott had been found along a forest Service Road near Coeur d'Alene in February of 2016.

The Priest River woman had disappeared in 2004. At the time, KREM reported Lott was last seen by her husband getting into a a pickup truck in front of a grocery store in Priest River.

He told officials she made a call on the pay phone, then got into a red pick up truck with another man.

"The news of her discovery was kept confidential until her husband could be located and interviewed by KCSO detectives," KCSO said in a release. Officials did not name any suspects in the case and could not comment on Lott's husband's status.

At the time, police said her husband of nine years waited two days before calling police, according to previous reporting. Lott's death is currently being investigated as a homicide.

KREM reported in 2006 that detectives found Lott's husband had moved out of state with two of their children. Officials said in 2006 she had not had any contact with her family since the day she vanished in March of 2004.

Anyone who may have had contact with the Lott family in the 2004 time period or who may have information regarding the incident is asked to contact Detective J. Northrup by leaving a message at 208- 446-2237 or emailing jnorthrup@kcgov.us.
