POST FALLS, Idaho -- The boat launch at Q'emiln Park in Post Falls will not open for a several weeks due to a dam rehabilitation project lead by Avista.
Post Falls city leaders said the boat launch opens around June 22nd each year. It will be opened this year once the equipment for the South Channel Dam Rehabilitation Project is moved. Avista officials said they hope to have the area cleared by mid-June.
The swim area at Q'emiln Park is open for Memorial Day weekend and thereafter. Lifeguards will not be on duty until the Park's normal schedule begins in mid-June.
Post Falls' city officials remind visitors to be aware of signs and stay out of designated construction areas.
Avista officials say that river recreation is now permitted between the Spokane Street Bridge and the boater safety cables just upstream of Post Falls Dam.
