Kennewick police investigating 4-year-old's death

Police did not say what caused the child's death or give any information surrounding the incident.

KENNEWICK, Wash. — The Kennewick Police Department is investigating the death of a four-year-old who was found unresponsive at a hotel.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Kennewick police received a call about a child that was not breathing at the Econo Lodge on North Ely Street. When police and fire arrived, they started giving the child first aid before taking them to a local hospital.

The child died at the hospital, according to Kennewick police. Next of kin has been notified.

Police did not give additional details about the factors surrounding the child's death. The child's identity has not been released, but will be released at a later time by the Benton County Coroner's Office.

It is not known if any criminal charges have been filed related to the child's death, Police said the investigation is ongoing.
