COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — Two people were killed in a house fire in the Mica Flats area in Kootenai County on Sunday.

According to the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, at around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, dispatch received calls of a possible explosion and fire at a home on West Carnie Road in the Mica Flats area.

Law enforcement and first responders arrived at the scene, where they saw the home fully engulfed in flames.

As firefighters worked to put out the fire, the sheriff's office said two people were found dead, with one victim being found in the rubble.

The sheriff's office said it is helping the Idaho State Fire Marshal's Office with the investigation to find out how the fire started and what caused the fire.

The sheriff's office said this is an active and ongoing investigation.
