ENAVILLE, Idaho — A beloved North Idaho institution is closing it's doors, but only temporarily to allow for a big transition.
The Snake Pit, Idaho's oldest restaurant located east of Coeur d'Alene, announced via Facebook it will be closing temporarily. While the restaurant did not specify when it plans to reopen, it did share it will be opening under new management. The new management is set to take over the restaurant in March.
"The Snake Pit has been sold. New owners will take over in March," the restaurant said in a Facebook post. "We are looking forward to seeing you all this spring and summer!"
Open in 1880, The Snake Pit has long been a favorite of North Idaho residents and out-of-towners alike. According to its website, The Snake Pit "has continued to serve its customers through fire, floods and fluctuations in the mining industry." The restaurant is known across the Inland Northwest as the only restaurant in the area that serves rocky mountain oysters.
The restaurant encourages customers to check its website and social media pages for announcements about reopening. For more information, click here.
