According to the Northern Lakes Fire Protection District, the Red Cross is supporting the displaced family at this time.

HAYDEN, Idaho — Crews with the Northern Lakes Fire Protection District rescued a dog from a house fire in Hayden that left a family of nine displaced Thursday morning.

According to the department's Facebook page, firefighters arrived at the home around 9:10 a.m. after receiving a call from a concerned neighbor, who heard a smoke detector blaring from the house.

Officials said the fire originated in the kitchen and that crews were eventually able to contain the blaze. Firefighters located and rescued the family's dog from the smoke-filled home.

The department said the Red Cross is supporting the displaced family at this time and that this is the third major fire incident within the past six days. Firefighters are reminding residents to take precautions with portable heaters as the weather becomes colder.
