POST FALLS, Idaho — Kootenai County Fire and Rescue responded to a crash on Monday morning that left a 10-year-old injured.

The crash happened just before 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Greensferry and 16th Avenue in Post Falls. The student was transported to Kootenai Health for treatment.

According to police, the driver said the sun was obstructing their view and they did not see the student enter the intersection.

Post Falls Police reminds the public to be mindful of bicyclists and pedestrians, but especially in and around school zones. Drivers tend to watch for other vehicular traffic, but in many instances, drivers need to remember they share the road with pedestrians and bicyclists.

For pedestrians crossing the road, watch for oncoming traffic, be observant, and only cross when traffic permits. Bicyclists are all urged to wear a helmet, even on short rides.
