SANDPOINT, Idaho — More than $6.3 million is waiting to be claimed.

Forgotten after bank accounts went dormant or checks put aside for safe-keeping and then lost, Bonner County residents have some serious money sitting in the custody of the Idaho State Treasurer's Office. Idaho State Treasurer Julie Ellsworth and staff are on a tour of the state determined to reunite as many people as possible with their lost funds.

State officials will be at Sandpoint City Hall from 3 to 4 p.m. today, Oct. 3, to help reunite the county's residents with their money.

Common types of unclaimed property include dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, unclaimed wages, safe deposit box contents, insurance claim payments or benefits, and stocks or bonds.

Area residents are invited to stop by Sandpoint City Hall, 1123 W. Lake St., to visit with Ellsworth and her staff for assistance in tracking down forgotten funds.
