CASCADE, Idaho — The Idaho Sled Dog Challenge is returning this winter, but with some changes.
Organizers are changing the 300-mile race to a 200-mile race following wildfires over the summer that affected part of the trail. Organizers are also expanding the event to celebrate and include Sled Dog Week, which is January 27-31.
The event is taking place from January 27 - February 5.
There are multiple races taking place throughout the week, along with other events people competing should know about, which includes the following
- 52-mile Warm Lake Stage Race
- January 29-30
- Ceremonial Start
- February 2
- Vet checks
- February 2
- 100-mile race
- February 3
- 200-mile race
- February 3
Organizers say the 100-mile race is expected to end on February 4, while the 200-mile race is expected to end on February 5.
