Avista resolves power outage that impacted nearly 10,000 customers

Avista says a majority of the outages are under investigation.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Avista resolved a very large power outage that was affecting nearly 10,000 Avista customers in Spokane.

According to Avista's outage map, those who were impacted were on the South Hill, the South Perry District, East Central and the University District.

According to the outage map, the cause of one outage near Gonzaga University and Mission Park was an equipment failure. 

Avista later told KREM 2 News that the outage was caused by an equipment failure at Avista's substation located in downtown Spokane at 3rd and Hatch. Power was restored by 10:40 p.m.
