One person killed in head-on crash north of George

A car crashed head-on into a semi-truck around 2 a.m. on Friday. The driver of the car was killed, the semi-truck driver was not injured.

GEORGE, Wash. — One person was killed in a head-on crash north of George around 2 a.m. on Friday. 

Washington State Patrol (WSP) says that a car was traveling southbound on State Route 281 one mile north of George when it crossed over the center line and entered the northbound lane. 

The driver then collided head-on with a semi-truck traveling northbound. The truck came to rest on the northbound shoulder and the car came to rest on the southbound shoulder. 

The driver of the car was killed on the scene. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured. 

WSP says the cause of the crash is under investigation and has not released the identity of the person killed at this time.
