SPOKANE, Wash. -- Two people were arrested following a car chase Tuesday night on the lower South Hill that involved multiple gunshots, police said.
Three of the suspects in custody are juveniles. Two of the juveniles were arrested for first degree armed robbery and first degree assault.
Police said the juveniles were meeting a man to buy marijuana. The juveniles reportedly robbed the man at gunpoint and fled in their vehicle.
The man chased after them in his own car. Police said the juveniles shot at the man multiple times during the chase and his vehicle several times.
The juveniles crashed into a power pole near the intersection of East Hartson Avenue and South Florida Street and fled the scene. The man also fled in his vehicle.
A K-9 was then called in to track the juveniles that took off running after the crash. Police said while they were waiting for the K-9 to arrive, one witness walked up to the scene and had one of the occupants with him. The witness said he watched the man exit the vehicle and flee, the witness tracked him down and was able to detain him with minimal force. Officers found a loaded handgun on the man when they searched him.
Authorities said another witness followed a SUV that had fled the scene to a home in the 2100 block of east Mission. Officers responded there and detained the driver of that vehicle, which did have several bullet holes in it.
Officials said the driver of the SUV was not being charged as of Tuesday night, but still may be in the future.
Police said there is a potential more charges will be filed.
