GRANT COUNTY, Wash. — The Grant County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) is searching for a missing 54-year-old man from Moses Lake.

GCSO says Richard Smith left to go fishing at the O'Sullivan "Potholes" Reservoir on the morning of October 3 and his girlfriend has not heard from him since.

Smith's truck was found at Medicare Beach at the end of the Fish and Wildlife access road along the north shore of O'Sullivan Reservoir.

Smith is 5 feet 9 inches tall with hazel eyes. He is bald with a white goatee and was last seen wearing black or dark blue Adidas running pants. GCSO says his shirt or jacket color is unknown.

GCSO says Smith carried two boats in his truck, a 12-foot flat-bottom aluminum boat and a kayak. The kayak is still in the truck, but the aluminum boat is not.

GCSO says they believe Smith was likely in the small aluminum boat and found a single set of boat drag marks from the truck down to the water edge and no drag marks back.

GCSO says Smith told his girlfriend he was going fishing where the water is coming in and out of the O'Sullivan Reservoir. Smith also reportedly had knee surgery recently which is affecting his mobility.

Smith's cell phone is apparently dead and not sending any signals. GCSO says there is no evidence of foul play.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Grant County Sheriff's Office at 509-762-1160 and reference case number 24GS12378.
