SPOKANE, Wash. – Washington Gov. Jay Inslee visited a Planned Parenthood health center in Spokane on Monday.
Inslee joined staff and patients at the new Smith-Barbieri Health Center at 123 E. Indiana Avenue from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. to “demand that Health and Human Service (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar and the Trump administration withdraw their proposed nationwide gag rule," according to Planned Parenthood officials.
Planned Parenthood officials said the gag rule threatens quality, affordable health care and information for millions of people, with specific impacts on birth control access, safe and legal abortions, and Title X.
This event comes after Planned Parenthood supporters marched on Congressional offices carrying patients' comments from all 50 states opposing the gag rule.
