SPOKANE, Wash. — The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported on Friday, July 19 that around 1:45 a.m. eastern time that United, American, Delta and Allegiant airlines had all been grounded due to a major technology outage.
In Spokane, as of 7:45 a.m., only a handful of flights are still being delayed.
The delayed flights are all through Delta.
Around the U.S., American Airlines reports that they are resuming flights, Delta reports that some flights are resuming but more delays are expected and United is planning to offer travel waivers to those who have been affected by the outage.
The outage was caused by CrowdStrike, an American cybersecurity firm that sent an update to their software on Thursday night, causing an abrupt and critical issue for technology around the nation.
