SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — The Spokane Valley Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 200 block of S. Chronicle early Tuesday morning. According to the fire department, a caller reported the back outside corner of the home was on fire and it looked like fire was burning inside the home as well.
When firefighters arrived, they found the home was boarded up and had been abandoned before the incident.
First arriving units confirmed fire in the back corner of the home as well as inside the home. The fire extended into the attic of the home and required crews to remove plaster ceiling to access the attic space to extinguish the fire.
According to fire officials, the home is severely damaged from fire and smoke. A board-up company was called to close the structure once the investigations are completed.
One ladder truck, three engines, one safety officer, one command staff, one fire investigator and one AMR unit were called to the scene.
There were no firefighter injuries and no civilians were impacted because the house was unoccupied.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
