MARSHALL, Wash. — A motorcyclist was killed in a motorcycle vs car crash near the town of Marshall, Washington, late Monday afternoon.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to reports of a vehicle vs motorcycle crash at the intersection of South Spotted Road and West Melville Road Monday afternoon.
The sheriff's office said firefighters with Spokane County Fire District 3 provided medical aid to the motorcyclist, but the sheriff's office said the man was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
According to the sheriff's office, a woman driving a Nissan Sentra was heading south on South Spotted Road when she tried to turn left on West Melville Road across the northbound lane in front of the motorcyclist, who was also heading north.
The sheriff's office said the motorcyclist tried to break to avoid a crash, but the motorcyclist hit the passenger's side of the Nissan Sentra.
The sheriff's office said the driver and passenger of the Nissan Sentra had cuts and scrapes, but no other injuries.
The sheriff's office also said failure to yield the right of way appeared to be a contributing factor in the crash.
The sheriff's office said the Spokane County Medical Examiner will release the name of the motorcyclist, along with the cause and manner of his death, when appropriate.
