CALDWELL, Idaho - After nearly a week on the run, the inmate that escaped from the Canyon County Jail last Saturday night was arrested in Ontario just before 1 a.m. Saturday morning without incident.
Police say Jose Esteban Coronado had several stab wounds from an altercation that happened the night before. He was taken to Saint Alphonsus in Ontario where he was treated and released.
Coronado was booked into the Malheur County Jail.
“I am extremely pleased he was taken into custody without incident," said Canyon County Sheriff Kieran Donahue. "Mr. Coronado is now a victim of a crime in Oregon. When people choose to elude law enforcement and take refuge with the criminal element they should expect that things like this could happen. It is my understanding Ontario Police will be investigating this incident."
Coronado escaped from the Canyon County Jail last week after he cut a hole in the exterior wall of a tent housing unit.
