SPOKANE, Wash. — The t-shirt design contest for the 2025 Bloomsday Finishers Shirt opens on Saturday, August 3 and a winner will be determined after the contest ends on September 20.

“Each year, we are amazed by the creativity and passion displayed by our participants. The Finisher Shirt Design Contest is a unique opportunity for artists to leave their mark on Bloomsday and celebrate the incredible community spirit that defines this event," said Bloomsday communications coordinator, Bethany Lueck.

The winning design will be featured on the official Bloomsday Finisher Shirt, which is given to every Bloomsday participant, and a $1,000 cash prize.

Contestants for the design are encouraged to let their imagination run wild and captivate an illustration that embodies the spirit of Bloomsday. Multiple entries are allowed and encouraged.

The contest is open to all artists, regardless of age or professional status.

The details for the required elements are as follows:

  • Can include up to four colors
  • Must include the name "Lilac Bloomsday Run" or "Bloomsday"
  • Must include the city name (Spokane, WA) and the year (2025)
  • Must include the word "finisher"
  • Designs can be no larger than 13 inches by 11 inches

The Bloomsday Association asks that participants in the contest provide a hard copy of the design. No thumb drives, PDFs or electronic files will be accepted.

Contestants must also include their name, mailing address, email address and phone number on the back of each submitted design.

Submissions will be accepted by mail or in person until Friday, September 20 at the Lilac Bloomsday Association located at 1414 North Belt Street, Spokane, WA 99201.

The artist of the selected design will be notified in early November.

The Bloomsday Association says the winner will then collaborate with Bloomsday to adapt their design to the chosen color of the finisher shirt.
