Green Bluff hosts annual Cherry Picker's Trot & Pit Spit

Green Bluff is hosting its annual Cherry Picker’s Trot & Pit Spit event in July.

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — The annual Cherry Picker’s & Pit Spit event is being hosted by Green Bluff Grange on July 18. 

The event includes a 4-mile run through the cherry orchards, a cherry pit spitting competition, live music from local band “The Mountain Dew Boys” and a summer barbeque dinner. 

Beginning at 5 p.m., the Green Bluff firefighters and Harvest House will be serving hamburgers, hotdogs and ice cream. The cherry pit spitting competition also begins at 5 p.m. The current records are 33 feet for women and 49 feet for men. 

At 7 p.m. the race begins. Strollers and walkers will be placed in the back. Awards will be given to the first three men and the first three women who finish the race. 

Registration for the event is open now until July 17 for $10 per person on the Cherry Picker’s Trot website. Registration is also available the day of the race for $20.
