CHELAN, Wash. - The massive Reach Complex fire continues to burn and threaten homes along Lake Chelan.
The exact number of homes, businesses and other structures lost is not yet known.
Four generations enjoyed the Wickenhagen family home just outside Chelan, until Friday evening.
"We knew as soon as the wind shifted we were all going to be in danger," said Tina Spencer.
Family friends tried to save the property, but the flames were too intense.
"It's surreal, I don't even think my head is wrapped around it all," said Spencer's daughter, Trista Siltman.
More crews mobilized
Fire incident spokesman Wayne Patterson said Sunday that more fire crews, including from the Washington National Guard, are being mobilized to fight six fires burning in the area.
Together, the blazes have charred more than 155 square miles, forced about 1,500 residents to flee their homes and caused power outages.
Crews from the Wolverine Fire, joined by resources from the Washington Department of Natural Resources, US Forest Service, Okanogan, Douglas, and Chelan County Fire Districts, National Guard, the Bureau of Land Management, and others have been working to protect homes and slow the fires' spread.
The fire began as five separate blazes on Friday after a series of lightning strikes. On Saturday, the fires combined and grew together to cover more than 60,000 acres. Sunday there was just 1 percent containment.
Embers from the fire crossed the Columbia River and set fires in McNeil Canyon in Douglas County.
