MOSES LAKE, Wash. — Several roads in Moses Lake are closed after an irrigation canal broke on Monday evening causing water to go over the roadway. The break occurred between Rd. 5 and Rd. O NE.
In addition to road closures, a Level 2 (GET SET) evacuation notice was issued for the area of 10000 block of Road 4 NE due to the water.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Department says the canal is being drained and dikes are set in place on each side of the break to start repairs.
Sheriff's say Road 4 NE and Road N NE still have water over the roadway.
The Irrigation District says the repairs to the damaged canal will take around a week to complete.
Authorities are urging people to avoid the area until it is able to be cleaned up.
