SANDPOINT, Idaho – The solar panels installed in Sandpoint are getting a revamp, the Solar Roadways team said Friday.
The solar panels were installed in Sandpoint’s Jeff Jones Square in early October, but some of the panels were damaged during manufacturing and did not work properly.
The team, led by Scott Brusaw and his wife Julie Brusaw, said they will start replacing the panels – six at a time – until all 30 are up and running properly. They said they hope to have them replaced by the end of the month.
The City of Sandpoint will resume a live webcam at the site when the first round of panels are in place.
This is the first public test for Solar Roadways, which one day hopes to replace inert concrete with energy-producing solar panels across the globe.
