Avista, SNAP, McKinstry to distribute 600 free energy-saving kits in preparation for winter

SNAP, Avista and McKinstry will hand out 600 kits with equipment to help people prepare their homes for winter.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Avista Utilities, Spokane Neighborhood Action Partners (SNAP) and McKinstry will distribute 600 free energy-saving kits to provide people with tools to keep their homes safe and warm this winter on Thursday, Oct. 24.

The three organizations will distribute pre-packed kits at the Catalyst Building from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until supplies run out. The event is a drive-thru and supplies will be given out on a first-come-first-serve basis.

The following equipment will be included in the kits:

  • Energy-saving lightbulbs
  • Window plastic
  • Weather stripping and cloth draft stoppers

Avista says the goal of the free kits is to help preserve energy to keep utility bills down during the winter.

All community members are welcome to stop by to grab a kit if their household needs it.
