'Angry Racoons Ahead' | Construction sign near Audubon Park changed due to hack

The sign's keyboard was left unlocked and has since been fixed.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Wednesday morning, people driving near Audubon Park were greeted by a sign that said "Angry Racoons Ahead."

According to the Spokane Public Works' public information officer, Kirsten Davis, the keyboard compartment of the construction sign was left unlocked. This allowed someone to access it and change the sign. Davis tells KREM 2 that they do not know who the person is.

"It ended up being a light-hearted way to remember how important it is to lock down the devices," Davis said.

The construction sign has been fixed and changed back to its intended message.
