SPOKANE, Wash. — Inland Northwest athletes now have a year-round option for training.
Airdome Northwest just opened this year in Spokane's Hillyard neighborhood. The indoor, climate controlled facility includes amenities for all sports, including baseball, soccer and football.
As an athlete, maintaining focus is important. That's why Coach Blaine Bennett is running his football camp at Airdome Northwest.
"This allows you to become better throughout the bad weather," the All NW Football Passing Academy coach said. "Even though it's been a little mild right now. But this is a year-round facility."
Bennett said this space is a huge benefit to athletes focused on improving their skills year-round.
Airdome Northwest is run by Dan Cantu and his two sons, Brandon and Connor. The idea for the facility came from multiple people.
"I had a lot of coaches approach me wanting me to help them find some warehouse space in the winter time that they could practice with their teams," Dan Cantu said.
Teams now have access to 35,000 square feet of clear-span turf and a 40-foot ceiling. It also has four batting cages, two pitching machines and two mounds.
On the turf, you can rent a bay by the hour or the entire space.
"If you're not practicing outside in the cold, it reduces your risk of injury," Connor Cantu said. "It just is a more comfortable way to get your work done."
The airdome also offers conference rooms and a birds-eye view of the turf. For more information, click here.
