CHEWELAH, Wash. — Update: 49 Degrees North announced via Facebook that power has been restored and that the resort will be open this weekend. Officials said they are looking forward to a "great weekend of skiing and riding" in a Facebook post. Officials also said they will be opening Angel Peak for the first time this season.
Original: Ski resort 49 Degrees North will be closed on Friday due to an electrical issue causing power outages. 49 Degrees North says Avista crews are working to resolve the issue.
A winter storm brought over a foot of snow to the mountains in eastern Washington. Along with the snow, came frigid temperatures and ice that have caused many to lose electricity and pipes to burst.
"We are currently experiencing a power outage. Avista crews are in the field working to track down and fix the issue," 49 Degrees North said in a Facebook post. In a comment on the post, 49 Degrees North said it would be closed Friday, but they " don't foresee any issues with additions operations through the weekend."
49 Degrees North says if you need to reschedule when the resort has power again, contact sales@ski49n.com for ticket and pass-related questions.
