Fire investigators looking into four suspicious fires on South Hill

Investigators have not determined if the Thursday fires are connected to the recent suspicious fires in the same area.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Fire investigators are working with the Spokane Police Department to investigate four suspicious fires that occurred early Thursday morning in the Moran Prairie neighborhood. 

The first fire was reported at 12:15 a.m. and involved debris in a shopping cart near 2700 East 47th Street. Spokane County Fire District 8 responded to the call and extinguished the fire before it spread to nearby vegetation. 

At 1:10 a.m., three more fires were reported near 3100 East 42nd Avenue. Firefighters from the Spokane Fire Department and SCFD8 responded and found three vegetation fires. The largest covered an area of 20 feet by 20 feet. 

Investigators are working to determine if these fires are connected to other recent suspicious fires in the same area.
