4 suspects sentenced after robbing, bear spraying couple in downtown Spokane

The robbery took place in March 2024 and four adult suspects have been sentenced. Three juvenile suspects have yet to be sentenced.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Four suspects have been sentenced to prison after they attacked a couple in downtown Spokane with bear spray and robbed them on March 26, 2024. 

The Spokane Police Department says officers and community members were able to identify everyone involved in the robbery, which includes three minors in addition to the four sentenced adults. 

Originally, three adults and one teen were arrested on the day of the robbery. SPD says the group stole money and a backpack from the couple before running off through Riverfront Park. 

The adults tried and their sentences are as follows: 

  • Rashaud A. Lightner (27), convicted of two counts of 1st Degree Robbery and sentenced to 5 years in prison.
  • Chase A. Wilson (23), plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit 1st Degree Robbery and one count of 3rd Degree Assault.  Wilson was sentenced to just over 4 years in prison.
  • Jaeshon W. Farmer (18), plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit 1st Degree Robbery and one count of 3rd Degree Assault.  Farmer was sentenced to serve 3 years. 
  • Gerson M. Orellana (23), plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit 1st Degree Robbery and one count of 3rd Degree Assault. Orellana was sentenced to 3 years in prison.

SPD says the remaining 3 juvenile suspects are still being processed through Juvenile Superior Court.
