NAMPA, Idaho — One person is dead, and two are injured after they were involved in a car crash where the vehicle went airborne and landed on top of a Nampa home.
On Sunday morning, the Nampa Police Department (NPD) received numerous calls at 9:12 a.m. about a crashed vehicle on top of a Nampa home on East Amity Avenue. When first responders arrived, they found three adults inside the vehicle.
"The investigation is still ongoing, but it appears as though the vehicle was traveling westbound on Amity at a high rate of speed, failed to navigate a curve at Diamond Street, hit a berm in a private yard, went airborne, struck the chimney of one home and landed on the rooftop of a second home," police wrote in a news release.
Police said the driver of the vehicle and a passenger in the back seat were injured in the crash and were transported to a nearby hospital. The passenger in the front seat died from their injuries from the crash.
NPD said no other vehicles were involved in the crash, and nobody from either home was injured, but "both houses have extensive damage."
According to police, Nampa residents lost power as the vehicle hit several power lines.
The identity of those involved in the crash is unknown, and police said they will be released after families are notified.
NPD is still investigating the crash.
