SPOKANE, Wash. — Dominic Arizona Bonuccelli has traveled to dozens of countries as the lead photographer for Rick Steves’ Europe and the Lonely Planet travel guides.
Bonuccelli grew up in the Spokane area and attended Gonzaga Prep. He now calls Tucson, Arizona home, but makes many trips back to the Inland Northwest.
KREM 2 features one of Bonuccelli's favorite photos each week. This week, Bonuccelli shared an image of a swan he photographed in Ireland:
"Although big urban centers are exhilarating, I like small towns best. Wee hamlets like this one in Ireland are just the right size to conquer by foot in a day or two. I revel at getting lost during golden hour in back alleys and down by the harbor. And I do gravitate to animals: like children, they usually enjoy having their photo taken and will get 6 inches from the camera to look at or sniff you. But swans and geese are the exceptions. I’m convinced they are still 50% dinosaur. More than once have I been shooting a castle moat and been chased the length of a football field by a screeching swan, wings agape, much to the delight of everyone on the drawbridge."
