It’s still warm and so many folks are out there enjoying the long days of summer. However, we are just over a month away from busses and books. We’re talking back to school for thousands of kids is coming up and we want to make sure that those students have all the tools they need to succeed.
The Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort, Walmart, & KREM 2 have teamed up to make sure all kids have the supplies they need when they walk through those doors on the first day. That back to school experience can be so much fun but also financially exhausting and overwhelming with so many families. Dozens of our schools have a higher than 50% free and reduced lunch rate.
To help ease the burden for those families you can donate to the Tools 2 Schools campaign. It’s easy and you can get your own shopping done at the same time. Right now, all area Walmart stores in Spokane and North Idaho are accepting school supply donations. The stores have also created pre-stuffed backpacks. These backpacks are filled with about a dozen different supplies and ready to be donated. Most of those backpacks are under the $10 range for grades K-4. Grades 5-up are under $15.
All donations can be placed in the Tools 2 Schools boxes at the front of each Walmart store. Those backpacks and supplies will be picked and distributed to school aged children in Airway Heights, Spokane, Spokane Valley, & North Idaho. Supply boxes will be in front of the stores through August 21st.
A special thank you to the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort for donating 500 backpacks to kick-off the event. The casino is also taking cash donations over the next several weeks.
Over the next few weeks we will post the different schools receiving supplies from the Tools 2 Schools campaign.
Thank you for supporting Tools 2 Schools. The countdown is on to learning!
