A Snohomish County man who was the first U.S. case of 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has fully recovered from the virus.
The Snohomish Health District announced Friday the man was released from home isolation and can go about regular activities.
“We cannot thank him enough for his patience and cooperation throughout the entire process,” the health district said in a statement.
The 35-year-old man fell sick after returning from a visit to China and was admitted to Providence Medical Center in Everett on Jan. 20. He was released from the hospital Feb. 3 to home isolation and was monitored by public health workers.
The viral outbreak that originated in Wuhan, China has infected more than 69,000 people globally, killing more than 1,600, as of Thursday.
As of Friday, a total of 26 people in Washington state were tested for the novel coronavirus. Of those tests, 24 came back negative, one was pending, and one was positive, according to the Washington State Department of Health. A total of 794 people were under public health supervision in the state, which includes people who are at risk of being exposed to novel coronavirus.
