SPOKANE, Wash. — The Inland Northwest COVID-19 Response team hosted a "community conversation" on Wednesday evening to talk about their response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward, Health Officer Dr. Bob Lutz from the Spokane Regional Health District, Spokane Valley Mayor Ben Wick, and the Spokane County Commissioners co-hosted the town hall. They were joined by Spokane Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich and Washington State Senator Andy Billig.
After delivering brief opening remarks, the rest of the hour long town hall was dedicated to taking questions from viewer. Multiple polling questions were also asked.
Questions ranged from how the stay home, stay healthy order is being enforced and what the future holds as the country continues to fight the pandemic, both economically and health-wise.
Woodward said during the town hall that the city is looking into a program to help people pay rents during the crisis. She also spoke about the work being done on a quarantine facility at the Spokane County Fairgrounds for the homeless population, which she said was nearing completion.
Lutz answered many of the questions at the town hall, ranging from how to protect yourself from the virus to when testing will ramp up.
