SPOKANE, Wash. — Leadership with Davenport Hotels announced the short-term closure of four out of five Davenport hotels, with existing operations moving to The Davenport Grand in downtown Spokane.
Matt Jensen, director of sales and marketing, said in a statement that the Grand remains open for guests with current reservations and those with upcoming trips.
“In this climate, we know travel may not be your first thought, but we want you to know the safety of our guests and associates is our top priority,” Jensen wrote.
All Davenport restaurants and lounges, the spa, retail outlets, fitness center and pools are also closed to comply with Washington Gov. Jay Inslee’s emergency proclamation to shut down bars and restaurants and further limit the size of gatherings during the outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Restaurants will be allowed to have take-out and delivery services, but no in-person dining.
The ban will be in effect through March 31 and applies to restaurants, bars, dance halls, clubs, theaters, health and fitness clubs. Other banned establishments include salons, tattoo parlors and youth sports.
Jensen added that Davenport Hotels leaders are also working with local officials to put precautions and limitations in place to protect hotel guests and associates.
“Our hearts and thoughts go out to the people who have been affected by this unprecedented event and we appreciate the healthcare workers, local communities, and governments around the world who are on the front line working to contain this virus. Please know that we are vigilantly monitoring the COVID-19 situation around the clock and have precautions in place to ensure a healthy stay,” Jensen wrote.
Hotels are not the only entities affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. Events throughout the Spokane area, including sports matchups and concerts, have been canceled or postponed, restaurants have had to change their services and schools are closed through at least April 24.
