First person tests positive for coronavirus in Stevens County

The individual is in isolation and is receiving medical attention. The Northeast Tri County Health District is contacting the individual's close contacts.

STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. — The Northeast Tri County Health District announced the first positive test for coronavirus (COVID-19) in Stevens County on Friday.

The health district, which serves Stevens, Ferry and Pend Orielle counties, said the person is a Stevens County resident who is receiving medical care and is in isolation. The district also said its notifying people who may have been in close contact, and those people will be given guidance on necessary precautions.

The district also said in its release that "it is likely that more cases will be confirmed in our area in the future" and that it is accessing the community's risk daily.

Governor Jay Inslee has ordered all public and private K-12 schools in the state to close through April 24. He also ordered all bars, restaurants, recreational and entertainment facilities to close for the rest of March, although restaurants can offer take-out and delivery.
