Gonzaga baseball thumps Lamar on Senior Day

The Zags score 22 runs on 22 hits in the offensive outburst.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga baseball jumped in front of Lamar early and then never let up in a 22-4 win on the Bulldogs Senior Day.

Ten seniors were honored today, most of which started. Among those recognized were Daniel Fredrickson, Austin Pinorini and Nick Nyquist. They all had quite the day.

Nyquist went 4-7, Pinorini went 3-6 with 2 RBIs. Fredrickson went 3-7 with 3 RBIs.

Ernie Yake also had a solid outing, batting 3-5 and knocking in 3 RBIs.

The highlight of the game came in the 8th inning. Josh Bristyan came into pinch hit and then hit a grand slam, which were the final four runs of the game.

Gonzaga will take the field again on May 14 to play Oregon in Eugene for the last non conference game of the year.

Then the team will focus on trying to capture at least a share of the West Coast Conference regular season title. The Zags currently sit a game behind the Cougars.

The Bulldogs close out the season May 17 to 19 against Loyola Marymount on the road.
