Firefighter injured during massive N. Spokane garage fire

The flames damaged part of a home and structures on two different properties.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries while fighting a massive garage fire at a North Spokane home on Friday morning.

Spokane Fire was called to 2300 block of East Queen Avenue just before 3 a.m.

Neighbors tell KREM 2 that the fire started in a garage and spread to a nearby shed. The flames damaged part of the home, including the kitchen, and  two other garages.

KREM reporter Nicole Hernandez said most of the flames were contained to the home where the fire began.

One RV and the garage were destroyed. Several other vehicles were damaged.

Neighbors said they woke up to loud booms that sounded like fireworks before they realized that a fire was burning.

"I saw our neighbor's garage engulfed in flames and I could actually feel the heat from my window," neighbor Rhonda Bouquet said.

Officials say the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
