KETTLE FALLS, Wash. A Harpham family friend in Kettle Falls says she also knew the infamous Kehoe brothers. Janice Weezer says she is surprised by Kevin Harpham's arrest, but she wasn't surprised when the Kehoe brothers made headlines in the mid to late 1990's.

Weaver has owned a video store in Kettle Falls since the mid 1980's. She's seen many people come and go in that time, including Kevin Harpham.

'I knew him when he was a kid here in town, he would come and rent movies and his sister and my daughter were good friends,' says Weaver.

She also says Harpham was a polite and respectful teen.

'He was always neat and clean, helpful, you know, he'd hold the doors when you'd go out... nice kid... so when this came up you kind of wonder... what happened.'

Not so with the Kehoe brothers according the Weezer. Cheyne and Chevie Kehoe were sent to prison after an altercation with Ohio State Troopers in 1997. The brothers were caught on surveillance video in a shootout with the troopers. Then in 2005, Chevie Kehoe was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of an Arkansas gun dealer and his family. Weaver says she wasn't surprised.

'Of his upbringing I was not surprised when Chevie was on the news, but very surprised that Kevin Harpham is in the news.'

Weaver says she hasn't seen Harpham in about 15 years. We talked to many people in the Chewelah and Addy communities, and many also said they hadn't seen Harpham since he was a teenager.
