PULLMAN, Wash. — The school year is just around the corner in Pullman, and law enforcement wants to make sure you and your kids are getting to campus safe.
Washington State Patrol (WSP) said they will be doing emphasis patrols once again as Washington State University students begin returning for the upcoming academic school year.
WSP said troopers in Whitman, Adams, Grant and Kittitas counties will be looking for drivers who are speeding, distracted and/or impaired, along with other violations that could cause crashes.
WSP said troopers will also be looking at posted speed limits to make sure drivers are safe.
The patrols will be conducted from August 9 through August 18. WSP will have an increased presence on Highway 26, Highway 195 and I-90 over Snoqualmie Pass.
WSP said drivers should be paying close attention to changes to the speed limit, and troopers will not have any tolerance for impaired drivers. WSP asks drivers and motorists to be safe when going to and from school.
According to WSP, District 4 investigated 10 deadly crashes in 2024 compared to 26 during the same time in 2023, which is a 62% decrease.
