SPOKANE, Wash. — Whitworth University’s president announced on Monday that the university will become a smoke and tobacco-free campus effective Jan. 1, 2019.
President Beck Taylor said on Twitter that the school will provide support and free products to help students quit smoking. He added that there are no designated smoking areas on campus.
The school’s Smoke-Free Tobacco-Free Task Force supported the decision. It is conditional depending on the approval of the President’s Cabinet, Taylor wrote.
