MOSES LAKE, Wash. — Community members in Moses Lake will meet Tuesday night to discuss the school district’s financial situation. The meeting will be the first of four in-person community meetings this month.

The school district was forced to lay off dozens of staff positions before the start of the school year after discovering an $11 million accounting error.

Community members are invited to ask questions and speak with the interim superintendent at Tuesday's meeting.

The basics behind the school district’s finances will be shared along with details about what happened causing the budget error.

Another topic of conversation will be the temporary cancellation of bus routes in the district due to bus driver shortages.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at Sage Point Elementary School.
