COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — The Coeur d'Alene Police Department is investigating threats made by a student at Lakes Middle School.
According to the police department, they were made aware of threats made by the student Tuesday afternoon. Police said the student made statements to several students saying he was going to "shoot up the school."
Police said they contacted the student and his parents at their home and the student was suspended from school. Police also said precautions have been taken to prevent the student from returning to school until the investigation is over.
The Coeur d'Alene Police Department said officers don't believe the student has any access to firearms based on information from his parents, and police do not believe there is an active threat to any students or staff at Lakes Middle School.
Police said all appropriate criminal charges will be filed.
