SPOKANE, Wash. — A jury found a woman guilty of vehicular homicide after crashing her car, killing her boyfriend who was in the passenger seat.

According to the Spokane Police Department (SPD), in June 2021, 30-year-old Selina Juarez crashed into a fire hydrant, sending it into a railing 50 feet away. The passenger, who was also her boyfriend, 39-year-old Brandon McDonald died at the scene, according to SPD.

SPD said officers found Juarez under the influence of alcohol and other drugs while driving. Juarez' blood alcohol content (BAC) level was .10 at the time of the crash, slightly above Washington's legal limit of .08. SPD also said lab results found marijuana and cocaine in her system at the time of the crash.

The jury found Juarez guilty on Thursday, Jan. 25. She is scheduled to be sentenced in March 2024.
