U.S. Marshals Office capture wanted armed and dangerous suspect after brief standoff

Steven's County Sheriff's say the suspect was found in Springdale, Washington.

STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. — Steven’s County Sheriff’s U.S. Border Patrol and the U.S. Marshals announced they arrested a wanted man who was armed and dangerous.

Authorities say Nathan Benninger was hiding in Springdale, Washington.

SWAT showed up at a home on Friday morning just after midnight and Benninger was taken into custody at approximately 1:30 a.m. Benninger surrendered and was arrested without incident.

He was arrested on several warrants including:

  • Assault in the Second Degree- Deadly Weapon, Felony Harassment – Threat to Kill (No. 22-1-00140-33)
  • Assault in the Second Degree- Intentional Bodily Harm/ Agony or Torture-Domestic Violence, Unlawful Imprisonment- Domestic Violence, Felony Harassment – Threat to Kill – Domestic Violence (No. 23-1-00045- 33)
  • Attempted Murder in the Second Degree- Domestic Violence, Assault in the First Degree- Domestic Violence, Assault in the Second Degree-Domestic Violence, Felony Harassment- Threat to Kill- Domestic Violence, Unlawful Imprisonment- Domestic Violence, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in the First Degree, Interfering with the Reporting of Domestic Violence, Possession of Controlled Substance- Methamphetamine (24-1-00271- 33)

Benninger was transported and booked into the Stevens County Jail.
