2 teens arrested for Tuesday night shooting at Chief Garry Park

18-year-old Hunter Simmons and another 17-year-old boy were arrested Tuesday night and charged with drive-by shooting.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Two teenagers were arrested Tuesday night for their alleged role in a drive-by shooting near Chief Garry Park.

According to the Spokane Police Department (SPD), 18-year-old Hunter Simmons and another 17-year-old boy were arrested Tuesday night and charged with drive-by shooting. The charges stem from an apparent argument turned shooting that occurred at Chief Garry Park hours before the two were arrested.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, SPD responded to a reported shooting at the park. When officers arrived, they learned an argument involving a group of young people took place shortly before their arrival. Witnesses said a car pulled up with two boys, who got out of the car and walked toward the area where the argument was heard.

At some point, shots were heard and the two boys were seen going back to the car and driving away. Officers later found shell casings in the grass, according to SPD.

Responding officers figured out the car belonged to one of the teen's parents and later found it at Euclid and Crestline. The two boys were found inside the car and arrested. Police also found a gun in the car.

Police haven't identified any victims in this incident.
