Two suspects at large after pedestrian hit near Gonzaga campus

Major Crimes Traffic Unit and Spokane Police Department are searching for two females who drove off after hitting a pedestrian.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane police are searching for two women who fled the scene after hitting a pedestrian with their car near Gonzaga.

Police believe the women were driving a red Chevy Trailblazer when they hit a person on the corner of East Mission Avenue and North Lidgerwood Street on Sunday night, police said.

This area is also located near Gonzaga University.

The person hit by the car was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, police said.

E. Mission Ave. was closed between Lidgerwood and Astor on Sunday night, but has since reopened as of Monday morning.

Investigators with the Major Crimes Traffic Unit and Spokane police are involved in the search for the suspects.

The investigation is ongoing.

Another pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and killed near Gonzaga nearly one month ago.

The crash happened at Spokane Falls Boulevard and Hamilton Street on Jan. 6.

The suspect in the crash was arrested several weeks later during a court appearance for an unrelated matter.
