Multiple teens arrested near Riverfront Park for confronting security workers, vandalism

Park Rangers at Riverfront Park gave patrol officers information and descriptions about the teenagers, who later found and detained the teenagers.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Five teenagers were arrested after confronting security workers and vandalizing property near Riverfront Park early Monday morning.

According to the Spokane Police Department, officers responded to reports of a person with a weapon on North River Drive near North Washington Street in Spokane. When officers arrived, they learned that two security workers saw a group of teenagers destroying property around Washington Street between Spokane Falls Boulevard and North River Drive.

Officers learned that the teenagers allegedly approached one of the workers, pulled a gun and threatened the worker, who returned to his security truck. Police said the teenagers circled the truck, yelling at the workers and hitting the truck.

Park Rangers at Riverfront Park gave patrol officers information and descriptions about the teenagers, who later found and detained the teenagers.

The gun was found and was determined to be a realistic airsoft pistol, according to SPD.

Police developed probable cause to arrest the teenagers and charge them with felony harassment and criminal mischief riot. There were additional charges for some of the teenagers involved, including felony harassment with a weapon, minor in possession of alcohol and second-degree malicious mischief.

Police said 19-year-old Cordell J. Walker and 18-year-old Timothy J. Goodman were booked into the Spokane County Jail. The other three teenagers involved were booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center.
