Teenage driver arrested for hit and run involving mother and two children on Division Street

Police say thanks to dash cam video and witnesses, they were able to identify the suspected driver, 18-year-old Owen Neeson-Graham.

SPOKANE, Wash. — A teenager is in jail on felony charges after police say he hit a Spokane family in a crosswalk and drove off.

KREM 2 is honoring the victim's request to not air the dash cam video, which has been posted to Reddit and other social media sites.

A mom and her two kids were crossing Division Street in a marked crosswalk last Friday just before 7 a.m. when a car turned left. The mom, pushing a stroller, was hit and thrown to the ground along with her young son, whose head hits the pavement. The baby remained in the stroller.

Police say thanks to dash cam video and witnesses, they were able to identify the suspected driver, 18-year-old Owen Neeson-Graham. He was arrested for felony hit-and-run and vehicular assault.

According to court documents, the 18-year-old was arrested in February on five counts of assault. He appeared before a judge Thursday and remains in the Spokane County Jail on $70,000 bond.

According to a GoFundMe set up for the victims, the family uses public transportation every day and are very familiar with the rules of crossing roads in town.

The mom suffered a broken knee and multiple hand fractures. The baby was uninjured and the oldest child has bumps and bruises.

While the teen suspected of hitting them is in jail, police are still looking for the car, described as a 2005 Dodge Magnum with Washington license plate CHH8839. Those who know of the car's whereabouts are encouraged to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
